Ballet / Pointe |
|
 |
Our studio uses the Cecchetti syllabus of graded
methods in both flat ballet slipper and hard
pointe shoe. This international group, is a
non-profit educational organization, dedicated
to maintaining the standards and method of
ballet training established by Italian Cav.
Enrico Cecchetti. The organization uses his
teaching and writings in a sequence of graded
technique classes, carefully measured as to
degree of difficulty and physical development,
and provides a system of accredited examinations
to test the student's proficiency within those
grades. Ballet students are dedicated
individuals who study one or two years on each
examination in order to develop the technical
strength and artistry necessary to meet the
required standard of achievement.
Class consists of warm-up, barre work, center
floor, and combination work each lesson. |

Tap |
|
 |
The tap syllabus is Al Gilbert inspired which is
simply fun for all ages! An organized graded
system which has been proven over 50 years, to
effectively develop tap dancers, young and old
alike, in a simple manner. Each step is broken
down in a fool-proof way, making learning exact
and easy. Each level builds upon steps that
have been learned in previous levels. Starting
in the primary levels (preschool ages) and
ending with a very advanced pre-professional
level. Class consists of warm-up, barre work,
center floor, and across the floor combinations
each lesson.

Jazz |
|
 |
Our jazz classes are a combination of styles
(musical theater, lyrical, and comedy) using
materials that include warm-up exercises that
safely conditions students muscles and trains
dancers in proper placement. Included are
turns, leaps, across the floor combinations,
all to motivate and inspire students with kid
friendly choreography, then a cool down.
Multiple music selections, from many genre, are
a vital part of this class. |

Preschool |
|
 |
Preschool students enjoy a combination class
beginning with warm-ups on the floor, basic
ballet technique of rise and lower (elevator
time), circle time with classmates, (motor
skills) skips and walks, polka, gallops, then
ending this segment with curtsy. Quickly, we
change shoes for tap time. While seated on
floor, we discuss our parts of the foot through
finger games, stand in place for heel/toe,
boogie-woogie, flash trick, then finish with a
train ride around the room. Second year
(advanced preschool) students build on these
basic concepts with eye-hand coordination using
scarves, then ballet barre work using arm
placement (port de bra) and incorporating
positions of the feet (ballet technique), walk
and skip, clapping with partner. We have
imagination time at a circus and in a wedding.
Each class finishes with a curtsy or bow. "Thank
you very much!". |
